About Simmons Fine Jewelry

For over 35 years, Simmons Fine Jewelry has been where the Treasure Valley turns to celebrate life’s most meaningful milestones. From engagements to anniversaries, graduations to “just because,” our family-owned store has built its reputation on luxury, craftsmanship, and connection.

As we look to the future, we’re expanding the way we help clients create jewelry that is truly personal. With new technology, including advanced laser engraving and design software, we’re bringing fresh possibilities to the artistry of fine jewelry.

The Role: Jewelry Customization & Design Specialist

This is a rare opportunity for a designer who wants to bring their creativity into the world of fine jewelry. In this role, you’ll combine graphic design expertise with cutting-edge tools to create custom engravings, unique personalization, and one-of-a-kind designs that celebrate life’s biggest moments.

It’s a role that requires proven design skill, technical curiosity, and a love of helping clients bring their vision to life. While the foundation of your role will be design, you’ll also gain exposure to watch servicing, jewelry evaluation, and custom CAD applications—building a career pathway in the jewelry industry while making an immediate impact.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and create custom jewelry engravings and personalization using Adobe Illustrator and laser engraving technology.

  • Collaborate with clients to translate their ideas into meaningful, lasting designs.

  • Prepare design files for engraving and cutting, understanding the nuances of layers and techniques.

  • Learn and apply Easy CAD 3 and other jewelry design/tech tools.

  • Assist with minor watch repair and servicing (battery replacement, cleaning).

  • Support the intake of custom jobs and repairs, evaluating items alongside our jewelers.

  • Contribute to a team culture that values humility, curiosity, clear thinking, and kindness.

Qualifications

  • Proven graphic design experience, with strong skills in Adobe Illustrator.

  • A portfolio or examples of previous design work (required with application).

  • Comfort working with technology and design software; experience with layers and file prep.

  • An interest in jewelry, engraving, or metalwork; metal knowledge a plus.

  • Growth mindset: eager to learn new technology and jewelry-specific applications.

  • Customer service experience; ability to co-create with clients and communicate clearly.

  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and committed to quality.

  • Criminal history check required.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive pay based on experience.

  • Paid vacation, sick pay, health, vision, and dental insurance.

  • 401k plan with company match.

  • Training in CAD, laser engraving, and jewelry technology.

  • A clear pathway to expand your skills in jewelry design, customization, and repair.
